Summary: just when you think you’ve seen everything....

This is a super rare Lile World War II style dagger with script signed 8” blade, double brass guard, and pinned aluminum handle with 2-piece Loveless style bolts.

Tucked away in the collection of the late Tom Clinton for decades, then in mine for the past several years. I’ve never seen another Lile knife quite like it, the blade script signed “Hand Made by James B. Lile”.

Condition is excellent, by no means perfect. You’ll find handling marks throughout, scuffs and spots on both sides of the blade. It’s almost as Tom found Jimmy finishing this one and said “stop, I’ll take it!”. In grading / finished quality terms, I’d say the knife is about a 7.5 on a scale of 1 to 10. That said, I’m pretty sure it’s a 1-Off.

The sheath was paired to the knife when acquired from the Clinton’s, thin leather with belt slits. A true slip sheath with no keeper strap, handling marks front and back.

7 photos for review – as shown, a black canvas carry case is included. The photos are accurate, I’ll let them speak for the knife. Thanks and good luck.
