Summary: this is a 1960 or so Randall model 1 outfitted as follows: 8-1/4" tool steel blade, double brass guard, 5 spacers, stacked leather handle and duralumin butt cap with steel nut and washer. Used but with a full blade, looks like a previous owner ran steel wool lengthwise on both sides of the blade as there are very fine marks running tip to guard. (surprisingly, this is relatively common) Tarnish / patina on the guard, a few handling marks on the stacked leather handle and dura butt. Like the #1-7 also listed for sale, this knife would do well with a “shop done” spa treatment. That said, I’m just not sure it would be worthwhile due to the sheath modifications.

The brown button Heiser has been modified but is functional. The belt loop removed and relocated to create more of a “high ride” look and feel, drain holes added at the toe front and back. You will find handling and carry marks on both sides. the snaps function properly and the stitching is solid with no fraying. The sheath is stamped 1-8 below the Randall trademark on the back belt loop, a solid gray sharpening stone in the front pouch. (probably a replacement but don’t quote me)

10 photos for review -- as shown, a new embroidered RMK carry case is included. This neat 60+ year old RMK fighter that would be a fun one to own for EDC, yeah the sheath is modified but it looks cool and works well with the knife. Thanks and good luck.
